Hotel is located literally in touristic area of Old Town Edinburgh. Walking distance to all major touristic attraction, the Old Town is to offer. We had a nice, clean, quiet room. Nothing exeptional, but really nice. The hotel offer a good breakfast, also at the evening there is a bar open 24/7.
We stayed the first week in December and everything about the Holiday Inn Royal Mile exceeded our expectations. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and well maintained. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety to offer, the coffee machine was great offering espresso and latte. It was convenient to have a grocery right across from the hotel and Cowgate Coffee was a nice spot to stop for delicious coffee and baked goods when coming or going. Stayed 2 nights at this hotel and I was pleasantly surprised. It was the most reasonable price on the royal mile. All the reception staff were very friendly and helpful. They made sure our rooms were adjacent to the other family members rooms. The hotel was better than the photos online appeared. While the rooms were small, they were clean and had adequate charging ports . Could use luggage racks as there was no place to really set your luggage except on the floor or bed. Hotel had AC which is not always the case in Scotland. I shared the room with my adult son who had to sleep on the pullout couch. He said it wasn't too bad for a pullout. I wish they had more rooms with two beds. The location was nice, only a short walk to the Royal mile and close to restaurants and pubs. I would stay there again.
Great hotel, surprisingly well located for Royal Mile and a waking tour of Edinburgh. The staff were great and the rooms are a high standard. They just need to get their lift sorted (it has a mind of it's own and frequently ends up on the wrong floor...)
We stayed for two nights as a couple and were very satisfied with the hotel. Highlights: - Excellent all-you-can-eat breakfast - Very welcoming and attentive staff - Spacious and well-equipped room - Lovely view of the hills from our room - Good value for money - Location just a few minutes from the heart of the old town (e.g. 15 minutes from the castle) We highly recommend this hotel, which emphasises impeccable customer service.
The service by the hotel staff blew my mind. A big shout out to Birsen, David and the team who made our 1 night stay so memorable. They went the extra mile to delight us by coordinating with the Housekeeping to decorate our room to celebrate our anniversary Their kindness were soooo heartwarming. Please extend our gratitude to the staff. God bless the hotel team.
Friendly staff. Great location for the Royal Mile and old town (uphill so might not be great for children or less able-bodied) breakfast was OK nothing amazing. Our room was quite gloomy could have done will a few lamps. As too dark to read but comfortable beds. Would use hotel again
buffet needed waffles. nice room. curtains didnt close fully. nice sleep. got double bed and it was a sofa bed and it was very comfy. good hotel.
